The Maine Composites Alliance is a 501c3 Non profit that is comprised of an alliance of composite businesses in Maine who work together to recognize and promote Maine’s leadership in the international composite industry. We enhance the competitiveness of our members by providing opportunities for new commercial ventures, product development, education and training, and access to world class industrial testing laboratories.
We serve marine, automotive, aerospace, architecture and industrial industries throughout Maine, the United States and the world. Our members are:

The Maine Composites Alliance also acts as a trustee for two other Maine based industrial organizations that MCA views as strategic assets to Maine’s economy. These entities are the Composite Engineering Research Laboratory and the Maine Ocean and Wind Industry Initiative.
The Composite Engineering Research laboratory (CERL) is an industry focused consulting laboratory that operates in partnership with Maine Composites Alliance.
The mission of CERL is to provide New England composites industries with:
- Applied engineering expertise for manufacturing, process development & optimization
- Complete, advanced analytical services
- Focused educational training
- Prototype manufacturing
This broad spectrum of services all within one industry owned organization, fulfills CERL’s charter to facilitate the needs of our industry as it strives to compete in the global marketplace.
The Maine Ocean and Wind Industry Initiative is a supply chain organization with the mission of including Maine based businesses in the supply chains of natural resource based industries and technologies such as, but not limited to, land based wind, offshore wind, marine hydrokinetic, oil & gas, and aquaculture.
Steve Von Vogt
Steve is the Managing Director of the Maine Composites Alliance. He has a twenty-five years track record as a strategic business leader with consulting and leadership experience in manufacturing, financial services, insurance, professional firms, information systems, city and county government, and library systems. Steve focuses on developing comprehensive strategies, coaching, and consulting to leadership teams, and guiding organizations through startups, turnarounds, growth and expansion, reorganizations, sales, and other transitional periods.
Benjamin Brown
Benjamin Brown is an Project Manager for MCA and MOWII. He assists MCA and MOWII member companies with project development by providing proposal writing, business to business match making, and project management services.
Andy Schoenberg
Andy is the Director of the Composites Engineering Research Laboratory. He is a 35 year veteran of the semiconductor and plastic manufacturing industry and is considered to be one of the leading composite manufacturing experts in the northeast
